Free Training - ManageEngine OpManager

OpManager provides you the option to suppress the alarms of the devices for a pre-defined time interval. This option will be useful in cases where the devices are under maintenance or some known issues exist with them.

Group alarm suppression

Group alarm suppression allows you to suppress alarms for all devices within a specific group. This is useful when you want to avoid receiving alarms during maintenance or while performing updates on an entire group of devices. Refer to the Configuration methods for Alarm suppression section for detailed steps.

Category Alarm Suppression

Category alarm suppression lets you suppress alarms for devices belonging to a specific category, such as WLAN devices, UCS servers, or printers. This feature is beneficial when certain categories of devices require maintenance or upgrades. Refer to this section for detailed steps.

Note:

  • When a device has multiple alarm suppressions configured, i.e., via categories and groups, using the Delete All option from the Suppression window will only delete device-specific alarm suppressions. Category or group-based suppressions will remain unaffected. To delete category or group-based suppressions, use the Quick Configuration Wizard (QCW).
  • Similarly, when multiple suppressions are configured for a device, the longer suppression will automatically take effect. For example, if suppressions are set for 8 hours and 1 day, the 1-day suppression will be applied automatically.

Configuration methods for alarm suppression

Users can apply filters to narrow down the devices for which alarm suppression is applied. There are four available filter options:

  • Devices: Discovered devices can be further refined based on Business View, Groups, or Virtual Servers. Additionally, devices can be filtered by their category.
  • Category: The category of the device (e.g., WLAN, UCS, Printer, etc.).
  • Group: The groups created in OpManager.
  • Global URL: The monitored URLs in OpManager. To view the list of monitored Global URLs, navigate to Settings → Monitoring → URL Monitors.

Quick Configuration Wizard (QCW)

  • Open QCW and select Configure.
  • Choose the appropriate filter type—Category, Group, or URL—depending on the suppression you wish to apply.
