What is Extension

Workflows, Sensors, and Scripts are distinct resources designed to address various Digital Employee Experience needs. Creating a Sensor, Script, or Workflow requires significant effort to prepare and test.To simplify this process, the Extensions section offers a collection of ready-to-use samples, including Sensors, Workflows, and Scripts

The Extensions section is a centralized repository of curated objects that allows users to efficiently manage endpoint operations, improve user experience, and strengthen workspace security. By utilizing Extensions, users can easily search for and deploy objects with a single click to meet various organizational requirements.

How to Access Extension

Find Extension

A set of predefined Extensions published and available in Endpoint Analytics -> Extensions

You can search for the desired extension and filter the page using various drop-down menus:

  1. Filter by Use Cases:

    Extensions are grouped by use cases. Use this drop-down to extensions based on a use case

  2. Filter by Resources:
    1. Scripts - Extensions to add scripts
    2. Sensors - Extensions to create Sensors
    3. Workflows - Extensions to create workflows
  3. Filter by Status:
    1. Added: Displays installed sensors, scripts, and workflows.
    2. Yet to Add: Displays items that have not been added.
    3. Updates Available: Displays installed items with available updates only.

Extension Intro

Published Extensions:

A set of Published Extensions is available as tiles, as shown in the image above, with the following details:

  • Extension name
  • Short Description
  • Type of Resource - Script/Sensor/Workflow
  • Supported platform
  • Status - Added/Yet to Add/Update Available

Extension Details Page

Clicking an extension will redirect to Extension Details page

The details page provides comprehensive information about each extension, including:

  • Problem Statement: Defines the specific challenge the extension is designed to address.
  • Solution: Explains how the extension resolves the identified challenge.
  • Key Features: Highlights the core functionalities or advantages of the extension.
  • Screenshots: Provides a visual overview of the extension’s functionality.
  • Version: Tracks and manages updates to the extension. Clicking on "Version" displays the version history.
  • Released Date: Indicates the release date of the latest version.
  • Contents: Lists all the items included in the extension, such as scripts, sensors, and workflows.

On verifying extension details, click the Add button to add the extension to the resource. If the extension is already installed, the button will be labeled Added

Once an extension is added, you can modify the added extension as needed. However, any further updates pushed to the extension will not automatically be applied to the added resource if it is modified.To apply the latest version of an extension, click Update. This will add the latest version as a new resource rather than automatically updating the existing added extension.

 

Extension Details

Permissions Required for Using Extension

To grant user permissions for managing Extensions, follow these steps:

  1. Select Admin from the top navigation.
  2. Under User Administration, click Role
  3. Click on Add Role to create a new role or Modify existing role by clicking Modify from the action menu.
  4. In the Endpoint Central section, scroll down to the Sensors and Workflow section and enable the appropriate permissions for the role.
  5. To view extensions, Sensors Read and Workflow Read permissions should be enabled.
  6. Sensors FullControl and Workflow FullControl should be enabled to add extensions to resources.
