SwisSQL Console is a Java-based migration
environment. The product download is available in three versions, with
JRE (Java Runtime Environment), without JRE (Java Runtime Environment)
and Linux version. Ensure that you satisfy the recommended System Requirements,
before you install the JRE or non-JRE version. You can install JRE
version if you do not have JDK 1.6.0 and above or JRE 1.6.0 and above
in your machine.
Installing the JRE Version
- Double-click on SwisSQLConsole_JRE.exe ( with JRE
) to start the installation.
- Welcome: The Installer prompts you with information of the
product to be installed in your machine. Click Next to proceed

- Software License Agreement: The Installer
displays the license agreement. Based on the licensing terms you may
accept or decline the product installation. Click No to exit
installation
- If you agree with the License Agreement, click Yes to
proceed with the installation.

- Choose the Destination Location: You can install the
product in the default location (C:\SwisSQL\Console5.5) or you
can browse to specify the location of product installation.

- Select Program Folder: By default, the product will be
listed under
- In Windows XP: All Programs> SwisSQL
> Console 5.5>
- In Windows 2000 /NT: Programs >
SwisSQL > Console 5.5>
If you wish to follow your own way of organizing products,
you can customize the Program Folder and specify your desired name. For
example, if you specify "Migration" in the Program Folder, the product
would be listed under "Migration". The path structure in the Windows
menu will appear as listed below
All Programs> SwisSQL >Migration >
- Start Copying Files: The Installer finally prompts all the
chosen Current Settings of the Destination Folder and the Program
Folder for a final review before starting the installation. You can
click Back to make changes or click Next to proceed with the
installation to your local machine.

- Technical Support registration screen: An optional screen
will be displayed to get the user information. You could fill in this
form if you wish to avail our Technical support during evaluation.
Specify the information and click Next button.
- Install Shield Wizard Complete: A message appears stating
that the installation was successful, providing you with options to
view the ReadMe file and have a quick link Desktop Icon.

- Click Finish to exit the installer
Installing the non- JRE Version
When you download the non-JRE version, we assume that you have
JDK 1.6.0 (Java Development Kit) and above or JRE 1.6.0 (Java RunTime
Environment) and above in your local machine.
If you do not have JDK or JRE in your machine, you need to
download and install JDK after the product installation. Installing the
non-JRE version is very similar to installing the JRE version, except
selecting the already available local JRE path. During the
installation, the Installer prompts you to specify the Java RunTime
Installation home or automatically searches for the Java in your local
machine. When Java is not installed in your machine, the product
installation continues to completion with a final recommendation to
install Java to run the product.
- Double-click on SwisSQLConsole.exe ( without JRE )

in your machine. The Installer searches for the Java in your local
machine and sets the path variable.
- When the Installer is unable to find Java in your local
machine, it still proceeds with the installation and completes it.
Finally it prompts information of how to set your classpath.
Note: If you do not have Java (Java Development Kit) installed in your
machine, you can download the latest JDK from
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
- Click Next to start copying files to your local machine,
this installation will take a few seconds to complete.
- Install Shield Wizard Complete: A message appears stating
that the Installation was successful, providing you with options to
view the ReadMe file and have a quick link Desktop Icon.
- Click Finish to exit the Installer
Note: The below described final Summary screen will appear only when
you Install the Non-JRE version without JDK on your local machine.
- Summary

Windows Vista:
- Install the product with Administrator privileges
- Start the product
Linux version
- Download and unzip the file
'SwisSQLConsole_linux.zip' in a fresh folder. Tool can be
started with the script 'runSwisSQLConsole.sh' which can be found under
the directory
'<Product_Installed_home>/SwisSQL/Console5.5'
